About
María Luisa Marín, Mussa, performer, actress, songwriter, voice mover, Puerto Rican sound producer. National reference of the performative artist scene in Puerto Rico. Within her acting career, she has performed under the wing of acclaimed dramatic directors such as Sylvia Bofill (Lxs Idiotas, Experimental Theatre UPRRP), Jacqueline Duprey (Ana en el trópico, UPRRP), Alexis García (Daughter of the Sea, 2022) and, since 2020, Pó Rodil (La Otra Laboratoria, micro-residence Puerto Rico Arts Initiative). Transdisciplinary artist, Mussa claims sensuality as a portal of creation and power. Since 2021 she has been manager and facilitator of The Sex Siren Series workshops, facilitated at Casa Ruth, Puerto Rico, and soon, at the Festival "El Plumerío: cruce caribeño de ballroom y performance", in the Dominican Republic. As M.C., Mussa evokes with her voice the rhythmic hymns of the balls organized by Laborivogue in Puerto Rico, since 2020. Her chanting is part of the contemporary landscape of Puerto Rican Vogue and Ballroom. Recently, in 2021, she composed lyrics for "La Cicatríz del Agua" (2021), by Alejandra Rosa, a performative exploration in which she collaborated as a mover and performer. As a daily future-present, she draws artistic-perpendicular lines between time, space and emotions. Born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. María Luisa's artistic practice is nourished by continuous transdisciplinary collaborations. This transit makes Mussa a hyper-complete artist, capable of acting as a character as well as becoming a voice among thousands, who occupy a square to claim queer liberation from radical beauty. -Alejandra Rosa
